Mid Vt. Update 1-26-2006

It was a great weekend of racing action last weekend at Ascutney, Quechee, Killington, Middlebury, and Okemo – lots of medals and awards were passed out to hard working and well deserved ski racers. I’ve sent out all the place points for Jones and J3’s and hopefully they will be posted, if they haven’t been already. As mentioned yesterday due to an incorrect roster USSA number there was a mistake in the Jones Boy’s points but it has been corrected and the Stowe Reporter has been updated for next week.
The NORDICA Ross Series moves to Pico this Saturday and the Jones racers are training this weekend. 26 MVC athletes will be attending the J3 ERS at Waterville this weekend out of field of 133, not a bad percentage.
Unfortunately there have been many emails passing through our system and for the most part all have been needlessly written. If you would check the VARA Calendar, the USSA website, ask another coach or program director, or myself a question before just randomly sending questions/comments to the whole Council list problems could be solved more quickly and judiciously. All the ERS information was out there for the asking, as well as the qualifying information and to flood VARA’s and USSA’s email systems is unnecessary.
Moving on, the remainder of the J3’s will be racing at Okemo on Sunday in a slalom race on Wardance. Because of the diminished field they were thinking of having 2 courses set with the girls running the first course and the boys immediately following the girls on the other course. Both sexes would run the opposite courses for their 2nd run. It is also a designated flip 15 race. Because of the large MVC contingent at the ERS the place points will start at 6 for girls and 7 for boys, as was decided at the MVC meeting in October, or half of the field going to the ERS.
Good luck to all the racers this weekend!!
